Teaching an intelligently balanced and creative Vinyasa sequence is a true art form. This training focuses on developing a teacher’s own creative process. Each student and scenario is different and the yoga practice lends itself to being very adaptive. As teachers we can create the bridge between traditional practices and something that fits into everyday (and modern day) lives.

In this 50-hour module, we will study traditional sequencing patterns as a way to inform an inventive approach to movement and transitions. This training is movement oriented. There will be a lot of practicing as a way to feel different examples of sequencing in the body. There will also be some lectures and discussion allowing for analytical thinking around different approaches to movement and Yoga. Most importantly, each student will have opportunities to present sequencing examples and receive feedback and guidance from teachers.

Throughout this 50-hour module, some of the main topics will include:

  • Sequencing methodology and where to look for inspiration
  • Explore how to relate class experience to what’s happening at large in the world
  • Discover connections between different yoga postures as a way to progressively work towards a peak pose.
  • Teaching thoughtful and deliberate transitions
  • The art of creating a balanced experience in bio-mechanics, energy and mood
  • Weaving subtler practices such as meditation, pranayama and dharma talks into a vinyasa class
  • Adapting sequencing ideas for different types of students
  • The subtle art of hands-on touch and assists; a safe and respectful approach
