Blocks facilitate proper alignment and stability when used in a yoga practice. They provide extra length to open muscles, and are very helpful when muscles are tight. Blocks can also help with over-flexibility by creating space in the joints. In addition, they are used to elevate the floor and aid in grounding.

In seated poses, it can be helpful to sit on blankets to increase mobility in the pelvis, help release the groins and lengthen rounded spines.

In hip-openers, blankets can be used to fill space and allow muscles to open to their fullest expression.

Yoga belts aid in flexibility and add extension to the limbs. Belts can be strapped around arms in postures to open chest and shoulders, and help keep integritiy of alignment.
