Insurance Rebates
Display a commitment to a healthy living by doing regular yoga and many insurance companies will give you some money back! It sure is in everyone’s best interest.
To assist you with this process, one of our students graciously offered to share her experience:
“Hey guys!
I was able to get a $200 reimbursement check from my health insurance. My provider is United Healthcare Oxford, but I think most insurance companies do this reimbursement now (with the reasoning that being active and healthy will help to reduce the amount of medical attention that one will need).
When I called my insurance company they told me that they look for gym memberships because it must be tied to cardiovascular health. I googled an article that claims that Yoga is good for cardiovascular health, and sent it in with the form. (the link to the article I included is below).
There is a form that the insured person will need to fill out (or print from home using the link to mind body below), listing the dates that they attended their fitness facility. My insurance company asked for 50 visits in the span of 6 months. The facility manager will need to sign the form and then the insured can submit it to their insurance agency.
I included the print out you gave me listing the dates of my visits, and copies of the facility manager’s business card.
I don’t know exactly how the insurance companies gauge this benefit, but it worked for me and I’m hoping it works again at the end of the next 6-month period (meaning I’ll need to get my butt to more yoga after the new year to fulfill my requirement).
