A native New Yorker, Alyssa first discovered Yoga as a freshman studying Theatre and Italian language at Hunter college.  Although she entered into her first practice seeking relief from the stress of finals week, she left it having discovered much, much more.  As her practice developed she realized how it complimented every other aspect of her life.  Yoga became such a large part of her daily life that in 2009 she went for her 200-hour teacher training, and she is now a Yoga Alliance recognized instructor.  Alyssa’s teaching at Yoga Vida NYC began with an apprenticeship under Hilaria, and she can often be found around the studio, either teaching in the classroom or folding blankets and washing mats as part of the Karma Yoga program she heads up.

Alyssa’s teaching centers around the belief that Yoga can be for everybody in every body.  She feels that effects of developing a consistent practice can change one’s life dramatically in ways they may not have even realized it could change.  She also believes that if you are reading this and have never tried Yoga, you really, really should.  No, really. Give it a try.
